An employer wellness program is more than encouraging employees to eat healthy and exercise. Working with our clients, we aim to develop a long-term strategy that will result in healthier and more productive employees. Many times, this includes things like having employees complete Health Risk Assessments and coordinating biometric screenings for employees.
This information gives the employer a window into the health of their employee population; however, the real value of any wellness program is found in the actions taken once this information is gathered. We assist the client in developing a plan to target problem health areas within their employee populations. For instance, if we find that a particular employee population has an above-average number of diabetics, we might do a Lunch and Learn on diabetes management. A healthier employee is a more satisfied and productive employee – this is the goal of our wellness plans.
Just as important as the actual wellness plan is the communication campaign that is used to communicate the plan to employees. This communication campaign must raise awareness within the employee community so that the corporate wellness vision becomes a part of that company’s culture. As each employer is different and communicates with their employees in different ways, we tailor the communication campaign to the communication style of the employer.
