Client Success Story

"The year before we turned 65, we got bombarded with a whole lot of information, both on television and in the mail ... we talked to some folks who had been to Williford, and were so pleased with the attention they got, that we decided that maybe we better have a little professional help."

Understanding Medicare

Turning 65 is an important milestone for Americans since it is their initial opportunity to enroll in Medicare.  This can be an intimidating and overwhelming process – trying to understand and evaluate all the options.  Our goal at Williford Insurance Group is to guide you through the Medicare enrollment process and to help you understand your coverage options.  Below is a very brief introduction to the various parts of Medicare.

Parts A and B are often referred to as Original Medicare. Part A helps pay your hospital claims, and most people have paid for their Part A premiums through payroll taxes while working. Part B helps pay for things like doctor visits, preventive screenings and durable medical equipment.  The government sets the monthly premium for Part B.  The current Part B premium for most people is $104.90.  Your Part B premium can vary based upon your income.  Click http://www.medicare.gov/your-medicare-costs/part-b-costs/part-b-costs.html for details.

Part C plans, also known as Medicare Advantage plans, are a type of Medicare health plan offered by a private company that contracts with Medicare to provide you with all your Part A and Part B benefits. Part C plans are an alternative to Original Medicare.   Along with covering doctors and hospitals, these plans will oftentimes include coverage for prescription drugs.

Part D plans are Medicare-approved private plans that help people who have Parts A and B to pay for prescription drugs.  These Part D plans can be purchased from private insurance companies.
